Atkins

Henry ATKINS, born 1867 Leeds, Yorkshire. He married twice and had 7 children. He began homesteading in 1888 then in 1904 he established a hay, grain and implement business in Didsbury , Alberta, he was Justice of the Peace for 4 years, Mayor of Didsbury for 6 years and in 1915 was elected as a Liberal member of Parliament for the Alberta Legislature. In 1919 he moved to Cremona, where he died in 1941.

Bell

Ralph Alexander Gascoigne BELL born 1861 Doncaster, Yorkshire. He went to Canada and made his way to Calgary in 1881 with the North West Mounted Police and spent some time on railway patrol during construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. He died in Calgary in 1953.

Brown

Charles Robert BROWN born 1863 Otley, Yorkshire. he went to Calgary in 1883 and became foreman of the Military Colonization Company ranch under General Strange. He later established his homesite at the 76 ranch, south of Shepard. He ran over 2,400 cattle on 4,000 acres along the Bow River, and supplied many of Calgary's first firehorses. He and his wife had 4 children. He died in a motor vehicle accident in Calgary in 1828.

Pallister

Guy PALLISTER born Sheffield 1873. He went to High River in 1888 and worked on several ranches until 1910. He then managed various ranches until 1947 when he retired. He died in 1958.

Prestwich

Percy PRESTWICH born 1864 Yorkshire went to Alberta and settled at Gleichen in 1884, he lived there until 1912. He married English born Elizabeth Wagstaff, they had 6 children. He served with military from 1916 to 1918. He was Indian Agent at Standoff, Alberta for the Blood Indian Reserve. He became a stock detective and brand inspector in 1920. He retired to Calgary in 1923 and died there in 1944.

Wilson

Stephen WILSON, born 1854 Kimberworth, Rotherham son of John & Emma, emigrated to Canada. In 1885 he was hired to transport troops during the Rield Rebellion. He took up a homestead at Springbank then moved to Red Deer where he operated the Alberta Hotel and the Windsor Hotel until 1914. He had married (1) in England in 1880 but his wife and 2 children had died before he moved to Calgary in 1885. In 1904, at Red Deer, he married (2) Sarah Anderson, who was born in Ireland. They had 5 children. Stephen died at Red Deer in 1939.
